    ‘The Birthday Party’ marks the tenth birthday of the Flow Gallery. To celebrate the occasion, the gallery invited 12 passionate women collectors to nominate 12 artists with the brief to create a place setting for a festive table. Swedish ceramist Mia E Göransson, selected by Lady Frances Sorrel, takes inspiration from nature for her setting of cups and vessels.

    Swedish novelist, playwright and artist August Strindberg (1849 – 1912) wrote 58 plays during his lifetime and has arguably become one of the most influential Scandinavian writers of all time. Sex and power dominate his scandalous masterpiece, ‘Miss Julie’ as Strindberg explores what draws men and women together – and makes them want to destroy each other. ’Miss Julie’ is directed by Stephen Unwin and the cast includes Daniel Betts, Lucy Briers and Rachel Pickup.     Originally commissioned by Swedish National Radio, ‘ The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman’ can be heard on BBC 6 Music on 8 November with previews on Radio 2. Written and produced by brothers Ron and Russel Mael, also known as US music duo Sparks, it is a wonderfully original musical fantasy, a ‘ what if’ story based on the internationally renowned Swedish film director.‘ The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman’ was broadcast in Sweden in August 2009 to great acclaim and is also released as Spark´s latest album.

    Johan Hugosson, pianist and composer is a fervent advocate of contemporary Swedish music and in this two day event he performs works by Albert Schnelzer and a new work by Erik Hjärpe.The concert also includes new work by British contemporary composer Christian Mason, Ballad No. 1 i G-minor Op. 23 by Frédéric Chopin and the Goldberg Variations by Johann Sebastian Bach.
