Christian Lindberg is a brilliant comet of music – one of the top trombone players of the world, passionate composer and artistic conductor.
He turned the orthodox conception about trombones upside down, transforming the big, heavy clarion into a vivid and lively animal with his new performance techniques Christian Lindberg has visited Latvia on several occasions, including his performance at Latvian National Opera in 2003 with Riga Festival Orchestra conducted by Normunds Šnē. As a child Lindberg was no prodigy. He was not thrilled by piano, trumpet or cello. Christian devoted himself to basketball, adored The Beatles and in his singing lessons stood out with his exceptionally loud voice. He began playing trombone at the age of 17 and, as it turned out, only his trombone teacher was able to dispel Lindberg’s displeasure with classical music.
