FILM: The Swedish Experience at IFC Center

This fall, the IFC Center in Greenwich Village features 11 weeks of award-winning short films and video works from Sweden's finest artists and directors, playing on three screens, before regularly scheduled features.

More than a dozen Swedish filmmakers and artists will screen their work in New York City when the IFC Center unspools The Swedish Experience. Running for 11 weeks – from August 29 through November 13 – the program brings together the finest talents of Sweden, for an eye-catching occasion of award-winning short films and festival winners.

Works include those from Swedish luminaries: Jens Jonsson (winner, Sundance 2008; The King of Ping Pong); provocateur/artist Joanna Rytel; famed Madonna cinema biographer Jonas Åkerlund; Ruben Östlund (official selection Cannes 2008; Involuntary) and Tomas Alfredson (winner Tribeca 2008; Let the Right One In.)  The Swedish Experience three-image poster series was specifically created by Åkerlund for the event.

The Swedish Experience is curated by filmmaker/author Shari Roman. The initiative is supported by the Swedish Film Institute and the Consulate General of Sweden in New York.
